Fresh Start
I’ve been having a rather intense internal debate with myself about how to properly restructure this blog. When I first kicked off this website, my ambition was simple: publish everything I possibly could about the topics I loved most. And to be fair, in the beginning, I actually managed to cover a lot in the video game development, computer science and code-related fields. But keeping up a relentless-like publishing cadence proved entirely unsustainable. LeetCode for instance; pouring hours into solving problems, analyzing the most optimal solutions, and writing detailed breakdowns for every single one of them became too demanding. I even went so far as to craft custom diagrams and visual aids to make the content more engaging, but eventually, I hit a massive wall and burned out.
Nevertheless, I’ve always felt some sort of pull toward writing. So I knew that, sooner or later, I’d find my way back — ideally with topics I could actually sustain and enjoy exploring for the long haul.
I also translated every single post back and forth between Spanish and English… It didn't help with the burnout either. I’m not entirely sure why I insisted on running the site in two "original" languages. Maybe I thought it would be my quirky signature as a blogger, sparing readers from awkward automated browser translations.
Having said all that, I am still blissfully unsure about what my exact niche will be moving forward. I don't have a massive following, corporate sponsors breathing down my neck, or a rigidly defined subject matter. That blank slate actually makes me feel remarkably in control of whatever comes next.
I feel it’s worth mentioning I’ve been journaling consistently for over a year now. And despite knowing I’m no literary titan — let alone a seasoned blogger — I’ve grown pretty confident in my ability to get my ideas across clearly. So my formula moving forward is simple: dump words onto a blank page, edit ruthlessly, and turn it into something genuinely decent for whoever happens to stop by. Therefore, my commitment to you, the reader, is to always lean into engaging stories, anecdotes, and observations that keep you entertained while giving me enough creative fuel to keep writing.
Speaking of consistency, I haven't quite figured out how often I want to publish new posts — lots of unknowns here, as you can see. I'm mostly just trying to take the pressure off so I can focus on content I actually enjoy creating. I'll probably start with once a week. That gives me plenty of breathing room to focus on something I care about, polish the prose, make it look pretty on screen and ship it.
On the topic of socials, I used to be quite active on Reddit and X — mostly Reddit. Honestly, that rat race probably contributed to my lethargy too. Constantly chasing karma, obsessing over metrics, and figuring out what drives clicks and engagement is an absolute time sink. Moving forward, I’m only keeping X. If any of you want to swing by and say hello, just click here, or on that beautifully designed X button at the bottom of your screen.
What’s on the Menu?
I want to pivot back to exploring all the things I genuinely love consuming. Looking at this list might give us a pretty good idea of what’s coming down the pipeline:
Reading
If you’d asked me a year ago, I would have told you I was strictly a fiction, sci-fi, and history buff. Nowadays, while I still adore those genres, I feel like I’ll read practically anything if the internet, a friend, or a stranger guarantees it's a stellar ride. No questions asked; wether it’s historical fiction, romance, thrillers, horror, suspense, epics, or short stories — if it's good, I’m in.
Exercise
I enjoy working out, and I also enjoy watching internet fitness coaches debate optimal techniques and routines. And yes, it includes watching D. Goggins ruthlessly scream at me about how lazy I am for staring at the screen instead of getting up to do the work. Who knows? I might occasionally write about fitness and the various psychological insights I've gathered from dragging my muscles and willpower through gruelling routines.
TV Shows vs. Movies
While I love watching movies at home or in a theatre, TV shows are a tough sell for me. Why? I'm not entirely sure, but my standard excuse is that a multi-season show feels like too much of a time/relationship commitment. I'd much rather watch a self-contained film for a couple of hours and call it a day. I will, however, watch a series under two strict conditions:
- It’s already finished (or practically done) — because I hate waiting a year for the next batch of episodes, only to get dangerously hooked or completely forget what happened.
- It’s universally acclaimed as too good to miss.
Video Games
I’ve been gaming forever. If I go too long without touching a console, I start feeling like Kendall Roy — “if I don’t get to do this, I feel like that’s it… like I might… die.” (I've seen the meme; still need to finish the series). My all-time favourites are The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, with no clear preference between the two. I also love getting destroyed in online Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, losing hours to No Man’s Sky, playing both Hollow Knight games, and diving into the latest Civilization VII. Genre loyalty? Never heard of it.
Ultimately, I might just end up writing about all of these things with zero grand strategy, tackling topics as they cross my mind. We'll see how it goes. Like I said, my main goal is just to stay consistent. If any of this keeps me writing week after week for the foreseeable future, I don’t care, I’m sticking with it. My traffic stats are currently microscopic, which adds freedom to course-correct and completely rethink what I actually want to achieve in my little corner of the internet.
If you’ve made it this far down the page, thank you for reading. I also promise to keep an entertaining mix in trending topics from time to time, and occasionally share my two cents on current events.
Oh, and by the way: I’m moving to Canada. I figure it’s as good an excuse as any to start fresh and finally do things right.
If you want to follow along with this new adventure, make sure to stick around.
